Child & Teen Assessment (Ages 6-16)

Assessment (also called “testing” or “evaluation”) can help determine if your child or teen needs help for ADHD, Learning Disabilities, Bipolar Disorder, Anxiety, or Depression. It can also help clarify the cause of a variety of behavioral and cognitive problems. Thorough testing often includes cognitive testing (IQ), academic assessment, memory testing, mood and personality assessment, behavioral rating scales, input from teachers, parents, and often school observation. Testing helps provide a well-rounded view of your child’s cognitive, academic, social, and emotional functioning, and helps to create a roadmap to remediation. Sometimes parents simply want more information about their child’s functioning. Testing can be used to determine giftedness, strengths and weaknesses, and to help in academic planning and school choice. I have been providing psychodiagnostic assessment for over 20 years. I have found that testing is priceless in that it provides the quickest, most thorough means of determining the level of functioning, what if -if any- diagnoses require treatment, and which methods of remediation will be likely to be most helpful.
